Western Maryland Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk - September 18th, 2010.
This fun and entertaining event is perhaps one of the most picturesque annual road races in the US state of Maryland. Hundreds of enthusiastic runners are taken annually, on a scenic course, in the hilly countryside of western Maryland, in hope to promote health, fitness and wellness, as well as to increase awareness of the abundant natural beauty of this corner of the state.
As in the last year's race, which was scheduled in October, the starting and finish line will be at Joseph Hancock Jr. Primitive Park, and will follow an out-and-back course, along the Western Maryland Rail Trail, which follows the waters of both the Potomac River and the C&O Canal, revealing some of the most beautiful areas in the city, giving participants the chance to sightsee, as well, along the way.
In addition to the objective to promote the scenic beauty and natural resources of Western Maryland, this year, the race will also try to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, supporting its on-going mission to provide safe, decent and affordable housing in the community.
